Fashion, fashion, fashion industry

You know how a couple days ago I posted about going into the skin care industry? Well, I changed to the fashion industry instead. However, there's no doubt that I would love to be involved in both industries, and I will continue to try to interview and understand the skin care industry. Just for my class concentration, finding an entrepreneur to interview in the fashion industry is much easier than for the skin care industry, since most brands are big brands, making it difficult to contact the founder for an interview.

Anywho, I went to Melrose to find some cute boutiques to ask salesclerks and owners about the fashion industry. They were all very nice and were even willing to take pictures (yay, extra points for my assignment)! How exciting~~ Some of the boutiques had super cute clothing, however, sadly, my wallet is currently pretty sad. I feel bad that I couldn't buy anything when the interviewees were sweet and nice.

I did go to Wasteland though! Wasteland is super cool, but it is on the more expensive side. However, the interior decoration and styles available are totally superb~ Check out the Yelp page here <3

Mini-haul: online thrifting with ThredUp

When I say "thrifting," what do you think? For me, thrifting is something that happens at Goodwill or the Salvation Army. It's where you find hidden jewels. However, until recently, I never really thought of thrifting as something that can also occur online. I guess e-commerce expanded to cover all types of industries.

Last week I ordered some pieces from ThredUp. I did a review of the company last April as well. I'd have to say, I just love this shop! There's some heavily discounted pieces, and all the pieces I've ordered have been amazing quality! Using ThredUp is really like going thrifting, because there's so many options to look through. Some of the items won't appeal to you, but some will! Like typical thrifting, it's quite exciting~

My package arrived smoothly yesterday! Hooray!

This is the typical package that ThredUp sends out. Aren't the polkadots adorable?
Also, the clothes are always surrounded with gift paper.
Gap blouse: the quality of this blouse is so awesome. I love the polka-dots, too :)
$13.49

Banana Republic Top: the quality was superb as well! I love the patterns and the colors, and LOOK!
This blouse was completely new :)
$11.49

Do you like thrifting? Is it work the time invested? I totally love thrifting :)

Review: Just-Fab haul

I made an account a while back, but left it alone for a while. Luckily I received a $10 credit -- I guess an attempt by the company to encourage its members to become VIP members. I decided to try it out and buy some accessories. The package arrived five days after I made the order.

PACKAGING

I was quite impressed with the packaging. It was very nicely put together. Each box contains one item, and inside the box were little baggies. I want to save these baggies to use to use later :)

ITEM REVIEWS

In the Loop (sorry the picture appears silver, but it's actually gold) - $6.95
This necklace is super cute. I love the elegance and daintiness of it. The gold is a nice, brilliant color! I love it!

On the Fly (also in gold - sorry...it once again appears silver >__<) - $6.95
I love this necklace as well. It's super dainty and elegant, and I love the way it feels. It's perfect for an every-day outfit!

Silver Reign (also in gold -- for some reason my phone makes the picture appear silver...) - $6.95
This anklet fits pretty well and looks quite nice. The problem is that it's difficult to make the fringes appear neat and the chain is very long, so it touches the ground...

Like a Charm - $6.95
This is definitely one of my favorite items that I bought. The charms are super cute and unique. HOWEVER, I can wear it... It looks way better in the photos, but the charms are so heavy that just fall under my arms--you'll never see them...

too bad...the charms are too heavy...
I think I'll try removing the charms and making them into a necklace or into a different bracelet...If I do so, I'll let you know how they end up looking! hopefully it'll be a lot better :)

OVERVIEW

Overall, I liked my purchase. The items seems to be good quality, and the styles and designs are just superb! I would purchase again from JustFab--if I receive more in-store credit XD I'm a bit stingy, so I don't usually purchase $7+ accessories unless I'm absolutely in love with the item or the quality of the item is amazing...

How is everyone doing? Has anyone tried one of these membership sites before?

ThredUp.com Review -- "yummy," fun, and inexpensive clothes

Recently, I've also purchased for a second-hand e-shop. You heard right, second-hand... I know some people have apprehensions about these type of things, but ThredUp has really good, well cared for products. I really like what came through! Some of their clothing pieces are actually pretty cheap. Each piece that I purchased was around $11.

Here's some other items that I'd suggest/fell in love with (but haven't purchased):

Topshop, $17.00             Young Hawaii, $3.50

  Old Navy, $5.50            BCBGeneration, $28.50

Maurices, $7.00

If you click on the images, it'll take you to the pages. Don't worry. These aren't referral links! However, if you'd like to use my referral and get $10, see below (sorry, self promotion >__<)

Packaging:
I really, really liked the packaging. Aren't the green dots adorable? The structure was also very stiff and durable, meaning that the clothing inside are well protected!

Clothing quality:
The quality of the clothes are also super good! I wouldn't actually have thought that it was a second-hand item! That's how good they came to me~ From their site, they have a 12-point quality inspection. Not only do the pieces have to be in like-new condition, they also must have:
  • no tears/rips
  • no marks
  • no fraying
  • no odors
  • no holes
  • no pilling
  • no missing parts
  • no stains or spots
  • no fading
  • no peeling
  • no hair
  • no stretching

I'm really glad to see that they care so much about the quality of clothing they're offering to their users. Other vintage stores don't go through such a process. Sadly, some things come through and they weren't what I excepted... I'm sure ThredUp loses some really cool pieces because they have such high conditions, but I'm also really glad about that. I can be pretty confident that what I get is what I see on their site! These are what I purchased!

Old Navy, $8.00

Calvin Klein, $11.00

$10-of Referral opportunity:
Sorry guys, I know people really don't like it when bloggers or other people try to refer them to a site. I really have that pet peeve too, but I still do it. Sorry!!! Anyways, since I want to be open and transparent with you guys, I'll let you know both the benefits that you get, and the benefits that I get.

When I refer people, they get $10 to spend as they like. When that person spends the $10, I also get $10 added to my account to use as I like.
The good thing is that you can pretty much get a piece free and only have to pay shipping~

Once again, I'd like to apologize. I'm a pretty selfish and stingy person...haha. >___< Hope you don't mind. If you guys don't like these type of things, let me know! I'll stop! :)
